"Forbidden Trim" Movie Review.

 Forbidden Trim Movie Review

 (Excerpt from Forbidden Trim Movie)

Ambition in creativity is something we here appreciate passionately.  Our goal is to highlight creative achievements and share it with you guys. When it comes to a classic film, it has been a long time since we've seen anything as ambitious and fulfilling as Buzz Cut Film's "Forbidden Trim".  Shot on 16mm and super 8 film, this film is beautifully done.

In the words of director George Trimm, "It's a Grindhouse, Surfing, Sci-Fi, Horror, Comedy, War film."  While the surfing is stellar with amazingly talented displays of wave sliding, I first became familiar with George's work on a film he made called "Bootleg Surf Movie" in 2012. The movie showcased Joel Tudor surfing in San Diego and it also featured fellow San Diego legend John Haffey. After "Bootleg Surf Movie", George had left everyone wondering what he'd come up with next.

"Forbidden Trim" is George's follow up film. Unlike his previous movie, George is setting up unique scenes and is creatively using surfing as a vessel to tell a story. The plot is, using a group of surfers for cover, a crack commando is sent deep into the jungle on a clandestine mission to eliminate the global crime syndicate, the Caldera Network.

The main character of the film, Kilroy, is played by Colin Whitbread, who's acting helps give the film a strong base that roots the story.  Often times in surf films, the acting is something of an afterthought; however, Colin does a convincing job where the viewer is engaged cinematically so George can push the plot forward and tell the story. To me, it reads beyond the limiting label of "surf film" and starts to go into deeper waters creatively, which is always fun to see. It's a film you want to play over and over again.

All the great directors of our time, Akira Kurosawa, Wes Anderson and Quentin Tarantino, all have their own visual style where immediately when you see it, you know it's their unique visual fingerprints which are all over it. George is the same way for this genera. His unique vision is something that has many ready to see his next creative expression. We look forward to supporting him and seeing what his next creation will be. We highly recommend you buy this and watch it. We're happy we did.

Godspeed.
