Happy New Year Kickstarter Backers!
I wanted to craft this update on our production cycle for the Ziggy Boot. The Kickstarter campaign has exceeded our initial anticipation; therefore, we've scaled our team to accommodate the number of pairs we need to make. One thing that we hold true, is the time it takes to make each pair. We believe that you'd rather have us take the time to make each pair and make it well, versus rushing to accommodate the pairs received.
Knowing all of this, we're expecting shoes to be shipped out by mid-February and here's how we've come up with this date...
We break down the entire production schedule in simple stages.
All shoes will go through all of these processes and they are not to be skipped.
-Cutting (this is where we are now)
-Stitching (this will be started on Monday)
-Welting/ Outsole Assembly
Cutting and Stitching: Paper patterns are cut and piled for the stitching team to put the upper panels together.
Lasting: When we apply the stitched uppers over the "Last", and this is where we capture the toe character. We have a mandatory amount of time that the shoes need to be on the last. This is because the longer the amount of time the shoes are on the last, the better the shape of the toe is seen.
We hope that this helps keep everyone updated here and thank you for your patience and understanding while we're here making your boots!
Thank you for your support and patience while we get working!
Happy New Year!
